Mendelli Street was born from a love of gifting and putting smiles on people's faces. As a small team, we thought long and hard about the best gifts we could give.
Health and family are the two most important things in the world. That's why we are absolutely over the moon delighted to be supporting Rainbow Trust.
Rainbow Trust is a Surrey-based charity that delivers support to the families of children with life limiting or terminal illnesses. Physical and mental health has never been more important, and no one has felt the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic worse than those already battling a serious illness.
'Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life threatening or terminal illness and need the bespoke support we offer. There are an estimated 86,625 children in England with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. This number has trebled over the last 17 years and means the likely need for services is significantly higher than previously understood, and is on the rise (Make Every Child Count study, University of York, 2020). Many of these children and their families are able to cope or are not in a ‘crisis situation’. However, thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day to day basis.' - Rainbow Trust
Rainbow Trust supports in a variety of ways. They have a team of Family Support Workers who work throughout the UK, providing emotional assistance to 2500 families. They also provide sibling support, allowing the brothers and sisters of seriously unwell children some fun and laughter outside the home when things get a little too much, as well as supporting them with their education. Their home and hospital support teams help with everything from the mundane to the major; they cook meals, run baths, read stories and offer a shoulder to cry on within the home, as well as helping organise hospital appointments, travel arrangements, explanations to complicated terms, caring for children while their siblings are in hospital and staying with sick children, including in the neonatal unit. They also offer 24/7 bereavement support for the entire family.
Due to the pandemic, they have never been so stretched and are relying on donations more than ever. You are able to include a gift donation in any Mendelli box to send on behalf of your recipient. They will receive a thank you card from the charity inside their gift box.
Should you wish, you can also make a one-off donation here:
